Atebubu Paramount Chief Pays Courtesy Call on NPA CEO

The Paramount Chief of Atebubu, HRM Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, on Monday March 30, 2026, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo Esq.

The meeting which took place at the head office of the NPA, centred on strengthening relations with the Authority.

HRM Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah praised the NPA CEO for his strong leadership so far in the downstream petroleum sector and encouraged him to keep up the good work.

“It’s been a little over a year since the President gave you this mandate and we have been admiring from afar, the strong leadership you are displaying in the downstream sector and we want to encourage you to keep up the good work’’, HRM Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah said.

“Our mission is simply to explore and see how the paramount stool and the NPA can collaborate, because we have seen the good work being done and we feel that as custodians of land, we need to reach out to see which areas we can collaborate in to enhance development’’.

In his response, Mr. Tameklo Esq., thanked the Paramount Chief of Atebubu for the visit and emphasised the importance of having a strong relationship with traditional leadership in Ghana.\

“One of the things I have always emphasised is the close relationship between traditional leadership and what we do. We have the power of the state but what traditional leaders have is the authority that moves directly from the people, if the government issues a directive and the Chiefs don’t agree, there’s no way the rules will be enforced effectively, but once you have the buy in of the chiefs, the work becomes much easier, Mr Tameklo said.

The CEO of the NPA also expressed concern about the issue of siphoning fuel from overturned fuel tankers in Ghana and called on the Paramount Chief of Atebubu, HRM Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah to raise this issue during council meetings to help curb the menace.

“One of the things we are confronted with and has been of great concern to the authority is the issue of fuel siphoning from overturned fuel tankers. We have been looking for the best way that the traditional leaders can help us bring an end to this issue. I want to use this opportunity to plead the Ohempon to raise this issue when he sits in council meetings, Mr. Tameklo said.

The visit underscores the growing importance of collaboration between traditional authorities and state institutions in advancing national development.
