NPA Boss Praises Ghana’s Religious Harmony and Tolerance

The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo Esq., has lauded the religious harmony and tolerance between Muslims and Christians in the country.

He said the religious harmony and tolerance exhibited between Muslims and Christians in Ghana does not pertain in other countries.

Speaking at the Kanda National Mosque in Accra on Friday, Mr. Tameklo called for a collaborative effort to preserve the religious harmony and tolerance for mutual benefits and the good of the country.

The NPA team led Mr. Tameklo was at the National Mosque for a Muslim thanksgiving service relative to the Authority’s 20 years anniversary.

The NPA Boss expressed joy at the warm reception given to Christians to enter the mosque for prayers.

He said this level of harmony and tolerance could not be demonstrated in other countries

“This level of religious tolerance and harmony. It is something that we should not take for granted. We should do everything within our power to preserve it,” he said.

Mr. Tameklo recalled that when he assumed office, the Muslim leadership approached him and asked for a permission to organize and break their fast as a congregation during the fasting period (Ramadan).

Rather, he decided to grant a special dispensation for Muslims to close earlier than the usual closing time to go home and break their fast.

Touching on NPA’s journey, Mr. Tameklo said the Authority had chalked successes since its establishment 20 years ago, and noted that Muslims had been at the helm of affairs at the Authority within that period.

He mentioned Mr. Alhassan Tampuli and Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, as former Chief Executives of NPA who are Muslims.

The NPA Boss asked for prayers for the Authority.

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Shaributu, prayed for Allah’s continuous protection and guidance for the Board, Management and staff of NPA.

He also prayed to Allah to continue to guide HE President John Dramani Mahama and his team to advance the cause of the country.
