The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has been honoured as the Key Government Agency that Upholds National Standards, in recognition of its commitment to safety, compliance and consumer protection within Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector.
The award was presented at the 14th AGI Ghana Industry and Quality Awards held on Saturday at the Accra International Conference Centre.
This year’s ceremony was organised under the Theme: “Creating a Conducive Business Environment and Quality Standards for Industrial Competitiveness in a 24-Hour Economy.”
In her keynote address, Dr. Laura Bannerman, Awards Planning Committee Chairperson commended the companies whose resilience, innovation and commitment to excellence continue to shape Ghana’s industrial sector.
She highlighted the importance of a supportive business environment, noting that industry cannot thrive in a vacuum.
“In a world of increasing global competition, we must address persistent challenges such as the cost of capital, stability of utilities, efficiency of our courts and a regulatory regime that supports rather than punishes,” she said.
She added that Ghana must embrace the 24-hour economy, a shift driven by digitalisation, changing supply chains and post-pandemic realities. This transition, she explained, requires flexible labour laws, a fair tax regime, strong digital infrastructure and affordable, reliable power.
The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare applauded AGI for sustaining a platform that recognises excellence across Ghana’s industrial sector.
She said the theme reflects issues consistently raised by manufacturers and consumers, especially in shaping policies for a 24-hour economy.
She highlighted the urgency for Ghana to accelerate industrialisation, create decent jobs, increase export earnings and build economic resilience.
The Vice President of Ghana, Prof Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman congratulates all the awardees and reaffirms Government’s Commitment to Industrial Growth.
She described the awards night as a reaffirmation of government and private sector collaboration toward transforming industry, agribusiness and enterprise.
“The 24-Hour Economy Policy has shown increased productivity in pilot zones, especially during night shifts.
Plans have been made to extend public services such as regulators and licensing bodies to operate continuously in support of industrial activities”
The AGI Industry and Quality Awards highlighted the joint efforts of government, private sector and regulators to strengthen Ghana’s industrial landscape. With calls for improved business conditions, enhanced quality standards and the advancement of the 24-hour economy, the event endorsed a shared commitment to innovation, competitiveness and sustainable national development
