NPA Organizes Consumer Sensitization Durbars at Mamobi and Teshie Ahead of 2025 Consumer Week Celebration

As part of activities marking the 2025 Consumer Week Celebration, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has organized two mini community durbars at Mamobi and Teshie in the Greater Accra Region on 6th and 7th November 2025, respectively.

The outreach programme was aimed at sensitizing the public on the benefits of using Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG), the implementation of the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM), and the Authority’s mandate in protecting consumers’ interests within the petroleum downstream sector.

The durbars brought together various stakeholder groups, including opinion leaders, market women, traders, student groups, transport operators, and community members. The events were spearheaded by the Consumer Services Directorate and the Gas Directorate of the NPA, in collaboration with the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly and the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly.

Speaking at the durbars, Ing. Johnson Gbagbo, a Supervisor at the Gas Directorate, emphasized the safety, health, and environmental benefits of using LPG as compared to traditional fuels like charcoal and firewood. He noted that LPG is efficient, cleaner, and more convenient, and encouraged the public to adopt the CRM when accessing LPG.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso North, Hon. Haruna Mohammed, and the Municipal Chief Executive for Ledzokuku, Hon. Isreal Adjetey Otchwemah, also addressed participants. They urged residents to embrace LPG usage for domestic activities and adopt the CRM for improved safety and service delivery. Both MCEs commended the NPA for choosing their municipalities for the sensitization programme.

The 2025 Consumer Week Celebration will be climaxed with a grand durbar on Tuesday, 11th November 2025 at Ashaiman, in the Greater Accra Region. The event is expected to be attended by the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, industry stakeholders, and members of the general public
